Dharwad: Emphasising the core values of policing, retired police inspector D Chamundeshwari, Thursday, said discipline, social commitment and effective time management enhance the dignity and reputation of the police force.She was speaking as the chief guest at the Police Flag Day celebration and felicitation of retired personnel organised by the district police department at the district armed reserve police parade ground.Describing the police department as a symbol of sacrifice and dedication, Chamundeshwari said personnel who adhere to the principles, rules and values instilled at the time of joining service derive greater meaning and fulfilment in their careers.Calling the department a "family", she stressed mutual respect and guidance within the ranks. Senior officers, she said, should mentor their subordinates and adopt a supportive approach, including forgiving unintentional mistakes. An environment of encouragement, trust and cooperation strengthens confidence and professionalism, she added.Highlighting modernisation, she noted that advances in science and technology have improved crime detection, operational efficiency and professional capabilities.
She underlined the need for a work culture that promotes adaptability, efficiency and compassion across police stations and offices.She also said it was "unbecoming" of personnel to criticise or undermine the department after joining service, and added that accepting the profession with commitment and pride leads to a fulfilling career.On the occasion, superintendent of police Gunjan Arya presented a report on police welfare initiatives in the district.
