Kalaburagi: Condemning the sudden increase in the price of LPG gas used for autorickshaws, hundreds of auto drivers protested at SVP Circle here on Sunday.
The owners of the LPG gas auto rickshaws expressed their outrage over the sudden increase in the rates, which they said is a heavy burden on the poor auto drivers. From past three days, some suppliers have increased LPG rates from Rs 60 per litre to Rs 90 per litre, they alleged.

"As the number of autos in the city is already high, the drivers are not getting adequate income. In such a situation, the sudden increase in gas price has come as a big blow. Despite driving the autorickshaw all day, the money earned is not enough for their daily needs. Increasing the price is condemnable," they said.
"Although there is no increase in the prices of petrol, diesel and domestic cylinders, only the price of auto LPG has been increased, which is a deliberate move. Gas agencies are charging auto drivers unfairly. Immediate action should be taken against them," they demanded.
They also sought that the price of LPG should not be increased for any reason in the coming days. If not, they warned that they will call for a bandh in Kalaburagi.
