2 interstate thieves held for laptop, phone thefts in Hubballi
Hubballi: Vidyanagar police arrested two interstate thieves in Andhra Pradesh for allegedly stealing six laptops and 12 mobile phones worth Rs 5.5 lakh in Hubballi last week.
According to police, the laptops and mobile phones were stolen from the premises of BVB College and nearby hostels. The accused targeted student hostels and colleges to steal electronic items.
Police inspector Jackson D’Souza told TOI that the arrested persons were identified as Sathyamelu and Saravana, residents of Chowdpalle in Andhra Pradesh. He said the accused entered PGs and colleges disguised as students, stole more than nine laptops and 12 mobile phones, and fled.
“We have seized six laptops and 12 mobile phones. A case was registered, we monitored movements of the accused and conducted a successful operation in Andhra Pradesh to arrest them.”
PSI Puneeth Kumar, Sunil M, and a team of crime personnel were involved in the operation, he added.
