MNF, an NDA ally in Mizoram, backs opposition's no-trust motion

AIZAWL: Mizoram CM Zoramthanga's Mizo National Front (MNF), an ally of BJP-led NDA at the Centre, will back the opposition's no-confidence motion against the Modi government over its handling of the ethnic conflict in Manipur, the state's lone Lok Sabha MP C Lalrosanga said on Wednesday.
Lalrosanga told TOI from New Delhi that he consulted the party leadership, including the CM and MNF chief, on Tuesday regarding the party's stand in Parliament on the conflict in neighbouring Manipur.
He and his Rajya Sabha counterpart K Vanlalvena have had their adjournment motions on Manipur turned down by the chair in both Houses of Parliament. The two MPs from Mizoram skipped the NDA meeting last month, presumably in protest against their pleas not being accepted.
The Kuki community at the heart of the ethnic conflict in Manipur is from the same ethnic stock as the Mizo people. State information and public relations minister Lalruatkima confirmed that the MNF Lok Sabha member would back the opposition's no-trust motion.
