KOHIMA: The Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers' Union (NCSU) on Wednesday appealed to the Congress-led UPA government to change of modalities in allotting contract works under the Special Accelerated Road Development Programme (SARDP), National Highway and other projects.
In a representation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, signed by NCSU president Pele Khezhie and general secretary John Kath, the union thanked the Centre for approving the two laning of Longleng-Changtongya road, Mon-Tamlu, Merangkong road, Phek-Pfutsero road and Zunheboto - Chakabama road in the state under phase-I of the SARDP project.

The union said since four projects were clubbed together in the 'Global Tender', local contractors could not qualify for the tender. Thus, the NCSU strongly urged the Centre to break up the tenders according to the projects, which are going to be implemented in the second phase of SARDP to enable local contractors avail the opportunity.
