GUWAHATI: Triggered by several spells of heavy rain since Tuesday, parts of Guwahati were reeling under artificial floods on Wednesday, causing severe inconvenience to the commuters.
On the other hand, a landslide was reported from Maligaon on Wednesday, with no news of any casualty. However, a woman was electrocuted to death when she allegedly touched an inverter at her residence, which was inundated with rain water, in Pandu on Tuesday evening.
Over the last 24 hours, Guwahati has received 80 mm rainfall.

Several places like Nalapara, Hatigaon, Ulubari and Chandmari have been flooded due to incessant rainfall. According to the regional meteorological centre, Guwahati and Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district in central Assam received 80 mm rainfall, while Gossaigaon in west Assam's Kokrajhar district received 70 mm rainfall. Dhubri received 50 mm of rainfall.
While residents endured a torrid time due to waterlogging, commuters were stuck amid knee-high water in several parts of the city. Numerous people staying on rent in Anil Nagar left their rooms on Tuesday night and shifted to other places as flood waters entered their rooms.
