Kohima: Nagaland home minister G Kaito has said the situation in and around Dimapur, the state's commercial hub, has become more complicated because of the involvement of criminals and anti-social elements from outside.
Interacting with senior police officers and ministerial staff on Thursday at the police headquarters, Kohima, the new home minister said the incidents of crime in and around Dimapur has made the situation there very complex and told the police officers that he wanted to meet the army's 3 Corps Commander, Rangapahar, and seek their support in detecting the criminals.
He said the 3 Corps Commander had their jurisdictions over the region as well as better networking. "The 3 Corps Commander can support us in our fight against these anti-social elements operating in and around Dimapur," he said, adding, "We should stop them to prevent some untoward incident."
Kaito also called upon the police personnel to maintain discipline in all their assigned duties and asked the senior officers to be sincere, vigilant and work hard for the betterment of the department.
He also felt that police jawans, who performed a 'commendable job', must be awarded with promotion. "This way boost the morale even for other fellow police personnel," he said, pointing out that he was for the introduction of welfare schemes for the police personnel in the state.
