GURGAON: The 200-odd buses plying in Gurgaon will soon be equipped with global positioning system (GPS) devices, which will enable authorities to track the vehicle’s movement and keep passengers updated about the route.
Various companies have been invited to demonstrate their product. The Haryana roadways general manager (GM) hosted one such company on Friday. GM Yashendra Singh said, "A final decision on the company will be taken soon."
Even as Singh did not set a timeline for the project, he said the process has been expedited.

The nearly 4,500 Haryana roadways buses will be equipped with the instrument. The GM said the market rate price for a GPS instrument is around Rs 13,000, but a bulk buy would reduce per capita cost, said a senior official.
A control room will have to be set up to manage the buses, said the GM. With GPS in place, the control room will track the movement of buses and ensure that they run on time.
