GURGAON: A city-based property dealer and seven others have been booked for allegedly cheating two homebuyers of crores of rupees. The accused property dealer — Subhash— allegedly sold 20 kanal land in Sohna’s Berka village by forging documents and duping the buyers of Rs 3.32 crore, police said on Thursday.
According to the police, Subhash — a resident of the Bhondsi area — had allegedly forged documents and sold the 20 kanal land in Sohna to the victims in March 2022.
After making the payment, the buyers came to know that the said land had three other registries recorded. The victims took up the matter with the panchayat in March 2023 and the accused conceded to return the money.
In April, when the victims did not receive any money they filed a written complaint with the commissioner of police and named Subhash and seven others as perpetrators of the financial fraud.
Victim Rajesh Devi (58), in her complaint, alleged that she along with her family friend Nanika Sharma, a resident of Greater
Kailash in New Delhi, have been duped of Rs 3.32 crore by Subhash and his associates.
“On March 24, 2022, the registry was done in our name and we gave Jitender two demand drafts of Rs 1.5 crore each. A few days later, we came to know about some discrepancies in the actual ownership of the land and checked all the land records. We found that we had been conned and that the land had three different registries. When we approached them and asked for relevant documents, they denied sharing the same but agreed to return our money. For months they kept asking for time and finally in March they said they’ll pay the money. But they never did. So we filed a complaint with the commissioner of police in April,” said
Rajesh Devi.
