Three SIT staff to continue NIA stint

Police sources said that SP Omprakash Kudtarkar, DySP Mohan Naik and PI Sudesh Naik will assist the NIA in the investigation of the blasts. However, the rest of the SIT staff have been reverted to their original place of posting.

PANAJI: Even as a majority of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) staff have reverted to their original posting after their involvement with the National investigation Team (NIA), three officials of the SIT will continue to assist the NIA team in the investigation of the Margao blasts.
Police sources said that SP Omprakash Kudtarkar, DySP Mohan Naik and PI Sudesh Naik will assist the NIA in the investigation of the blasts.

However, the rest of the SIT staff have been reverted to their original place of posting.
"The SIT is not disbanded as yet and will continue to cooperate with the NIA," said police spokesperson SP Deshpande.
A need was felt to hand over the blast case to the NIA following the inter-state connection in the crime.
"There is definitely a link between the blasts in Maharashtra and Goa. As it doesn't concern just one state but is linked with other states too, the NIA will be handling it," said police sources.
