‘Real estate dealers need to rebuild buyers’ trust’
Panaji: There are instances of realty frauds in the state, even if they are few, they can impact realtors as it is a small state, so realtors need to rebuild the confidence of home buyers, Manufacturers’ Association for Information Technology (MAIT) president Nitin Kunolienker said.
“When you find people doing a fraud. You should expose them and see that enough pressure is built up by you as an association to book him.

These things must be taken seriously,” he was speaking as the chief guest after the installation of the Goa Association of Realtors’ governing council 2018-2020, on Tuesday.
He said the association should push for ease of doing business. “Look at the power of attorney for sale. There’s no logic why should be paying 5%,” he said. The Supreme Court judgment was meant to block people who were avoiding paying stamp duty in the guise of power of attorney, the MAIT president said. “I think the government should not interfere as long as you have a clear transaction and pay a stamp duty, no third person should venture into it,” he said.
The council chairman is Robert Viegas and president is Amit Chopra. It’s vice presidents are Sadashiv Shirsat and Nestor Sequeira. The other members are, secretary Kumar Siddharth, treasurer Rufus John, joint secretary Hemanth Gogia, organising secretary Shiven Naik, secretary membership Abhijeet Naik and executive member Shiju Augustine.
