PONDA: A total of 32 candidates, including both sons of Agriculture minister and Ponda BJP MLA Ravi Naik, filed their nominations on Monday for the election to the Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) scheduled for May 5.
The total nominations for the 15 wards is now 41.
The Ponda MLA’s sons Roy and Ritesh filed their nominations from ward no. 1 and ward no.
5 respectively. Ritesh is the outgoing chairperson of the Ponda municipality.
Returning officer, Ponda deputy collector Raghuraj Faldesai, said 32 candidates filed 36 nominations on Monday. The filing of nominations commenced on April 11.
Many former and sitting councillors are bringing in their wives and kin in the fray.
This time in Ponda, 8,152 males and 8,153 females will cast their votes in the municipal elections.
