No-trust motion against Sancoale sarpanch

VASCO: Eight panchas from the 11-member Sancoale panchayat, handed over a notice of no-confidence to Vasco BDO Mohini Halarnkar against their sarpanch, Ramakant Borkar. Borkar was caught by the anti-corruption branch (ACB) of the vigilance department for allegedly accepting a bribe on July 18.
Halarnkar confimed this, saying, "The panchas have handed over the notice to me and a meeting to discuss the same will be called soon at the panchayat." Their other grievances against the sarpanch included him not taking the other members into confidence while deciding on important matters and him adopting resolutions contrary to the provisions of law, thereby causing a loss in the form of legal fees.They alleged that the sarpanch has failed to take action on illegal constructions in the village. The notice has been signed by Gilbert Mariano, Narayan Naik, Derick Vales, Anita Mudliar, Sharan Metti, Govind Lamani, Rosalina Moniz, and Shilpa Naik.
