Murder victim's mother faces assault charges

MARGAO: The town police on Tuesday filed a case of wrongful restraint and assault against Sita Mhapari, Flaviano alias Babush and others on a complaint filed by one Vijayanand Naik, who said that several people accosted him near the SGPDA fish market on Monday and snatched his gold chain.
Flaviano has also been charged for dispossessing the complainant of his gold ornament.
Sita Mahapari is the mother of Sameer Mhapari, who was murdered some years ago. She had come along with others for the ongoing trial in the Sameer Mhapari murder case in the sessions court.
Vijaynand is a relative of Balesh Desai, an accused in the case, who had also come to the court to collect certain documents.
