Stating that the government has been seriously following up on the mining issue, chief minister Manohar Parrikar said that operations are likely to begin in the state from August this year.

PONDA: Stating that the government has been seriously following up on the mining issue, chief minister Manohar Parrikar said that operations are likely to begin in the state from August this year.
Referring to a news article regarding a mining corridor, Parrikar said that the matter of Goa mining is to come up for hearing on July 10 and the state has put up a strong case and he is confident of the resumption of mining by August, 2013.

The moment mining starts, the government will take up construction of the mining corridor, he said.
Minister of tribal welfare Ramesh Tawadkar, social welfare minister Mahadev Naik, minister for co-operation Pandurang 'Deepak' Dhavalikar, several MLAs, government officers, registrar of the Goa University Vijayendra Kamat were also present among others on the occasion of the inauguration of the Shri Gopal Gaonkar Memorial Goa Multi-Faculty College, at Dayanandnagar, Dharbandora, on Thursday.
