Cycle race: Mark defends title, Angie bags women’s crown

Panaji: Mark Jose Fernandes put up a champions performance yet again at the 51st All Goa Cycle Race, organised by Guirdolim Club in association with Sudesh Bhise, recently.
Hailing from Loutolim, Mark defended the crown he won last year, finishing ahead of Derwyn Viegas (Chinchinim) and Shravan (Ponda).
In the women’s category, Angie Fernandes (Panaji) was a first-time winner, while veteran Adlin Mascarenhas (Loutolim) and Elifa Fernandes (Varca) finished second and third.
Veteran racer from Guirdolim, Joulius Colaco, was presented with a memento for being the oldest participant at this year’s cycle race.
The race was flagged off by cycling star of yesteryears Peter Rodrigues. A total of 47 cyclists took part in the race.
