Outfits disrupt screening of Pathaan in Faridabad, 12 detained

Members of right-wing outfits allegedly barged into a mall in Faridabad's Sector 37 on Wednesday, vandalised a multiplex and disrupted the screening of the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Pathaan'. Police have filed an FIR for trespassing and detained 12 people.

GURUGRAM: Members of right-wing outfits allegedly barged into a mall in Faridabad's Sector 37 on Wednesday, vandalised a multiplex and disrupted the screening of the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Pathaan'. Police have filed an FIR for trespassing and detained 12 people.
According to sources, around 50 members from different outfits reached the INOX multiplex on the fourth floor around 4pm.

Videos of the incident on social media, in which the activists are seen carrying sticks and banners denouncing the movie. Some of them are also seen ripping posters and damaging the display windows of the multiplex with sticks. "Around 10 people entered the cinema and disrupted the screening. Those who were watching the movie hurriedly left the theatre," an employee at the multiplex said.
Police, meanwhile, said they have increased security in all multiplexes of Faridabad.
"We have detained 12 people so far and are identifying the others by scanning CCTV footage. We have also registered an FIR against the accused for trespassing after the INOX manager filed a complaint. Police came to know that the protesters first entered the mall in small groups. They then gathered and reached the fourth floor, shouted slogans and tried to stop the screening of the movie. The protesters also tore some posters and tried to damage the multiplex's property," said police spokesperson Sube Singh. TNN
