Waterless in VK, Yechurys regret their 'move'
VASANT KUNJ: For the past one-and-a-half months, Vasant Kunj, Sector A, Pocket B residents have not seen so much as a trickle from their taps. If water is supplied at all, it is gritty and unfit for drinking.
The Yechurys, naturally, are regretting their move. According to Sitaram''s wife Seema: "It''s quite sad to see such a severe water problem in a posh colony like Vasant Kunj.

We moved here some eight months back. The experience has been anything but good. I''m really paranoid about water scarcity, specially when we''ve to struggle for just a bucketful."
She feels the situation is man-made. "It doesn''t smell too good, you know. I''m sure some politics is happening. Otherwise, why is it that some flats are brimming with water, while others are dry?" she said.
But what about the ''VIP'' factor? "First of all, we are not VIPs. If you are saying ''prominent citizens'', yes, we are. But when a crisis revolves around everybody, it doesn''t remain an individual''s issue. Now, I believe only a mass agitation can help improve the situation," she said.
According to Yechury''s neighbour Dilbagh, "There are about 38 flats in this newly-constructed block in Sector-A, Pocket-B. While half of them receive at least some water from the distribution tank, the others, including ours, remain dry. The supply lasts hardly five minutes in the morning, and the pressure is irritatingly low."
Another neighbour M Sharma said: "We were very happy to hear of the VIP''s arrival. We were confident that our problems would soon be over. Nothing, however, has changed. These days, I can''t even drop my daughter to school in the morning as I have to queue up for the tanker, lest we miss out on the day''s quota."
