NEW DELHI: A 49-year-old teacher has been arrested for allegedly threatening a deputy director of the Delhi government’s education department. A case was registered on September 24 at the Najafgarh police station. The teacher had been suspended earlier.
According to police, the deputy director alleged that a teacher identified as Sunil Kumar came to his home with a pistol to threaten him on Sunday.
The complainant was not present at home, so the teacher met his tenant and told him that he would kill the education department official if he came in front of him, alleging that his life was ruined by the official.
Based on his statement, a case was registered. Kumar was arrested from his residence while he was trying to flee out of Delhi. Police recovered a pistol from his possession.
A departmental inquiry had earlier been initiated against the teacher.
