Police look for third suspect in teen’s murder
New Delhi: Multiple police teams have been formed to apprehend the third accused in the murder of an 18-year-old girl, who was allegedly kidnapped by her 20-year-old boyfriend from west Delhi's Nangloi and taken to Haryana. Her boyfriend, Saleem, also known as Sanju, is accused of strangling her with the help of two accomplices before burying her body in a pit.
A senior police officer confirmed that two of the accused are currently in judicial custody, with police seeking custody for further interrogation.
Additionally, the police team plans to recreate the crime scene to clarify the sequence of events leading to the murder. Sources said that they were verifying accounts of the victim's behaviour before the incident and her interactions with the primary accused, Saleem.
Police are conducting raids across various districts in Haryana to locate the third accused, Sohit, who is believed to reside in Jhajjar.
The vehicle used to transport the victim to Rohtak, where her body was buried, is crucial for understanding the crime's circumstances. Police are investigating the suspects' claim that they rented the vehicle online through an app and that it was not driven by anyone. This assertion is currently under scrutiny, police said.
Efforts are also underway to determine if the victim was assaulted while being transported to Rohtak.
The victim's family is devastated. Her brother-in-law, Manish, said, "A police officer, when he handed us the body, told us that she was brutally physically assaulted before being buried. He added that the rib cage was crushed and the bones of the chest and near her stomach were also broken." tnn
