ALMORA: A large number of tourists from India and abroad visit Uttarakhand in the summers. A record number of tourists visit the Garhwal division for Char Dham yatra, but this time, many tourists are reaching Kumaon’s Jageshwar Dham. Due to lack of adequate arrangements, along with the tourists, the locals too are worried. Just like Kedarnath, work needs to be done at Jageshwar under the master plan.
Hemant Bhatt, a priest at the temple, told TOI, “For the last 15 days, 5,000 to 15,000 people have been coming to Jageshwar daily.
Till last year, this number would have been up to 1,000.” Bhatt said that they are facing trouble due to lack of arrangements and took up the matter with Uttarakhand DGP. He said that with the increase in the number of tourists the locals will benefit.
Sangeeta Tilara, who runs a homestay at Vridh Jageshwar said, “There has been a good amount of tourist footfall this year and we are getting a lot of bookings.”
