DEHRADUN: The Uttarakhand government is now going to introduce ‘health and hygiene’ for school kids as part of syllabus from class I to XII.
This will start in government schools in the state from the next academic session. A letter to this effect to the director-general of school education has been issued on Tuesday by the secretary Ravinath Raman.
Notably, Uttarakhand tops the country with about 61% spending on health expenditure.
The decision was recently approved in the state cabinet meeting. Following the Covid pandemic, the state had decided to introduce health and hygiene in school syllabus, according to official sources
“Information about infectious disease, health and hygiene will be incorporated into the curriculum to increase awareness level of kids. The curriculum of class eighth to intermediate already encapsulates study on infectious diseases. Now the sensitization on health and hygiene will be promoted through the academic syllabus from class I,” a government official said.
