LPG truck overturns after collision with bus
Roorkee: A major road accident was narrowly averted on Sunday after a truck carrying 288 LPG cylinders collided with a Haryana Roadways bus on the Manglaur-Bhagwanpur highway, causing the truck to overturn and gas cylinders to scatter across the road. The front portion of the bus was badly damaged in the collision and more than half a dozen passengers were injured. Police and emergency services rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.According to Gangnahar police, the truck was on its way from the Landaura-based LPG depot to an LPG agency's godown in Roorkee, while the bus was travelling from Haridwar in the same direction. The truck allegedly took a wrong turn and struck the side of the bus, overturning on the divider near Paniyala.Panic broke out among passengers as cylinders rolled onto the road. Passers-by and farmers working in nearby fields rushed to help the injured and informed the police. The accident also disrupted traffic on the highway for some time as authorities worked to clear the road."We impounded both vehicles and the LPG cylinders were safely delivered to the concerned gas agency," said SHO Mani Bhushan Srivastava.
