Haridwar: Nearly 50% of staff for the upcoming Haridwar Medical College has been appointed, officials said on Saturday. The building of the medical college, fourth of its kind in Uttarakhand, is under construction, and authorities hope it will open soon. There are a total of 100 seats for MBBS students. The college was to be started this year, but some issues are still to be sorted, like building construction and staff appointment.
Eight of the appointed specialist doctors have been deployed at Govt Mela hospital, district hospital and women's hospital where they are in the OPD.
Dr RS Raina, college principal, told TOI, "Around 50 percent of staff, including professors and doctors, have been appointed, and process is ongoing to appoint the rest. Doctors who have been deployed at other hospitals include a surgeon, dermatologist, gynaecologist, pathologist, microbiologist, orthopaedic surgeon, dentist, ophthalmologist, and physician."
