Girl Child Ganga-Yamuna Scholarship launched in Uttarkashi

Uttarkashi DM Prashant Arya launched the Girl Child Ganga-Yamuna Scholarship Scheme, awarding Rs 21,000 to eight academically excelling girls. This initiative aims to bolster the 'Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child' campaign. The event also recognized social workers and disaster responders, concluding Uttarakhand's silver jubilee celebrations.

UTTARKASHI: Marking the close of Uttarakhand's silver jubilee celebrations, Uttarkashi DM Prashant Arya on Sunday announced the Girl Child Ganga-Yamuna Scholarship Scheme to encourage girls' education and honour academic excellence.Under the scheme, eight girls who excelled in board examinations were felicitated with cheques of Rs 21,000 each and mementoes. Arya said the initiative aims to further strengthen the ‘Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child' campaign. He also released a book titled Yojana Didi and a memento prepared by the Rural Enterprise Acceleration Project (REAP) team led by Kapil Upadhyay.Several individuals and organisations were recognised for their contributions to social work and disaster response, including Divyang Vidyalaya manager Vijayalakshmi Joshi, Gangotri Physical Academy founder Chandramohan Panwar, the SDRF team, NGOs involved in Dharali relief efforts, and officials from the Aspirational Block Mori.During the week-long celebrations, nearly 14,000 residents visited departmental stalls to learn about govt schemes and avail benefits. Sales of local products generated significant revenue, officials said.
