DEHRADUN: Senior Congress leader
Sachin Pilot, who was in Dehradun on Monday, released a white paper on inflation citing the soaring prices of essential commodities and other items.
He also attacked the Modi government for hiding facts about spyware Pegasus. “What the Centre told people and the court about Pegasus was not true. The software bought with taxpayers’ money, which the government said was being used to keep tabs on rival nations and terrorists, was actually used to spy on Indians.
Who will probe the government’s role? There are so many questions that need to be answered. Opposition parties will raise it in the Parliament,” Pilot said.
On the Congress’s prospects in the polls, Pilot said that ministers and MLAs are leaving the
BJP and it is “a clear indication that the party is a sinking ship”. Pilot said the BJP and its leaders are trying to create a rift between people and communities. “The main issue is inflation. Whose role is it to check soaring prices? None of the BJP leaders are willing to take responsibility. So, we have come up with this white paper,” he added. He further pointed out that with prices of petrol, diesel, cylinder and other items soaring, “the common man is at a great disadvantage". "We have come up with the commitment to give Rs 40,000 to five lakh families, four lakh jobs and also ensure that LPG cylinders do not exceed Rs 500,” he added.
