COIMBATORE: The principal district sessions court on Monday awarded double life term imprisonment to a 30-year-old man for murdering two private security guards at Sowripalayam in the city.
Two private security guards D Elango (60) and K Ramasamy (65), both hailing from Sowripalayam were brutally murdered at a construction site at Maniyakarar Thottam near Sowripalayam in the city on August 19, 2012.
Their heads were smashed with stones and wooden logs.

Karthikeyan and team traced the accused in Kumbakonam and arrested B Mani alias Chinna Mani alias Anbarasu (30) from Mathulampettai in Kumbakonam. He was working at the construction site and used to consume liquor and sleep there.
The security guards objected to his activities and informed the building owner about the matter. The building owner instructed the security guards not allow Mani to stay at the site.
On August 19, 2012, Elango was on duty and was waiting for Ramasamy to arrive for the night shift. Meanwhile, Mani came to the constriction site as usual to spend the night there.
But Elango prevented him from doing so leading to a quarrel. In a fit of rage, Mani took a stone and smashed Elango's head, killing him on the spot.
Meanwhile, the night shift security guard Ramasamy reached the spot and found Elango dead. Mani attacked Ramasamy, killing him on the spot too.
A truck laden with construction materials came to the site and the driver noticed the bodies. Peelamedu police filed charge sheet before principal district sessions judge court within sixty days.
Judge N Seshasayee delivered the verdict on Monday, sentencing Mani to a double life term for the crime and imposed a fine of Rs10,000.
