2 killed after bike falls into 50-ft gorge

Salem: A 54-year-old man and his daughter died after the motorbike in which they were riding fell into a 50-ft gorge near Yercaud on Monday. The deceased were identified as M Elangovan, of Udayarpalayam in Ariyalur district, and his daughter Yogeswari, 27.
Yogeswari married Gokulnath, 30, of Kannakurichi in Salem district, on June 3,2022. On Sunday, Elangovan went to Kannankurichi to visit his daughter.“Elangovan and his daughter went to Yercaud on the bike on Monday morning,” an officer from Yercaud police station said. While they were returning from Yercaud in the evening, Elangovan lost control of his vehicle when they were crossing hairpin bend 5 and the bike fell into the gorge. While Yogeswari died on the spot, Elangovan was rushed to Salem GH where he died without responding to treatment. tnn
