One worker killed, 12 others injured as under construction school building collapses in TN

VELLORE: A worker died and 12 others suffered injuries when a portion of an under construction school building collapsed near Vellore in Tamil Nadu on Thursday afternoon.
The accident happened on the new campus of Pinchusion Montessori International School at Kondranthangal around 4pm.
Police rescued 13 construction workers from the debris. The injured were sent to CMC Hospital, Government Vellore Medical College Hospital and Kumaran Hospital.Later, one of them, identified as K Bakiyaraj (45) of Puthur village, died.
Two of the injured were critical, police said.
"The scaffolding was not erected properly. It could not withstand concrete roof laid today. And the roof collapsed," said a construction worker who was at the site when the accident happened.
