Freedom day of Republic of Malta marked

Chennai: The high commission of the Republic of Malta and honorary consulate of Malta in Chennai on Monday celebrated the 44th anniversary of freedom day of the Republic of Malta in the presence of Tamil Nadu governor R N Ravi.
The high commissioner of Malta to India Reuben Gauci along with his spouse Dr Olga V. Gauci and honorary consul general of Malta in Chennai T Thangamuthu Pillai Shantakumar were present on the occasion.
Freedom day is the anniversary of the withdrawal of British troops and the Royal Navy from Malta.For the first time in a millennium, Malta was no longer a military base of a foreign power. TNN
