CM unveils life-size statue of Ambedkar

Chennai: Chief minister M K Stalin unveiled a life-size bronze statue of Dr B R Ambedkar on Thursday.
The statue has been erected in the Ambedkar memorial in R A Puram, and has been given to the memorial by member of parliament and president of the VCK, Thol Thirumavalavan. He had given the statue to the memorial on the 132nd birth anniversary of Ambedkar on April 14.
Chief minister Stalin visited the memorial, on April 15, this year to inspect a site for the erection of the statue and he unveiled the same on Thursday, in the presence of Thirumavalavan.
Ministers Duraimurugan, K N Nehru, K Ponmudi, E V Velu, M Subramanian, P K Sekhar Babu, T Mano Thangaraj, MPs Anthiyur Selvaraj, Tamilachi Thangapandian, Chennai mayor R Priya, among others were present.
Head of the state SC wing of the TNCC, M P Rajankumar has congratulated the chief minister for unveiling the statue of Ambedkar. “It was Ambedkar who ensured that the downtrodden people were protected by the law, through the Constitution for the past 75 years, and it is apt that the chief minister who was the protector of social justice unveiled his statue,” he said.
The chief minister has the big responsibility to defeat the communal forces from trying to unleash terror in the state. Spreading Ambedkar’s teachings and ideology can go a long way in defeating these divisible forces, Rajankumar said.
