Chennai: Schools, colleges to remain closed till Sunday

CHENNAI: Chennai collector E Sundaravalli on Wednesday announced that schools and colleges in the district woild remain closed till Sunday. They will reopen on November 23 (Monday).
Most educational institutions in Chennai and a few other districts, including Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur, have remained closed for almost two weeks due to Diwali and heavy rain.
Several parts of the city and suburbs were inundated.
Though rain stopped, the city's major waterways, including Adyar river, Cooum river and Buckingham canal, are overflowing, leading to mass evacuation from the banks. Several low-lying areas remain under water.
