TRICHY: AMMK’s Trichy urban district secretary J Srinivasan joined the ruling
AIADMK in the presence of chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami in Chennai on Wednesday.
Accompanied by the state tourism minister and Trichy east constituency MLA Vellamandi N Natarajan, Srinivasan called on the chief minister and joined the party.
Srinivasan left AIADMK in 2017 and joined TTV Dhinakaran’s AMMK. Sources said Srinivasan had started his moves to return to the AIADMK after
V K Sasikala decided to quit politics breaking the hope of AMMK functionaries and cadre. The development comes on the day when the AMMK released its first list of candidates for 15 constituencies in Tamil Nadu.
In January 2015, Srinivasan got the post of deputy mayor in the Trichy Corporation Council led by AIADMK. Being a then AIADMK councillor, Srinivasan had been elected unopposed as the deputy mayor after the resignation of the then deputy mayor Ashik Meera following a controversy.
