The South Indian Artists’ Association has appealed to chief minister J Jayalalithaa to allot at least one acre in Chennai to build an old age home for senior artists of the industry.

CHENNAI: After ‘Loose’ Mohan lodged a complaint with the police seeking action against his son for allegedly deserting him, the South Indian Artists’ Association has appealed to chief minister J Jayalalithaa to allot at least one acre in Chennai to build an old age home for senior artists of the industry.
Association president R Sarathkumar said, “We expect a positive reply from the state government.

We have promised the government that we will build, operate and maintain the old age home on our own. Many members have agreed to fund the project.”
There are about 131 senior actors, including Nanchil Nalini, MRP Santhanam, S Subbulakshmi , Madurai Jayanthi, VR Nathan, Nellai Sarathy, NK Kullamani, P Neela among others, who get a monthly pension of . , association had distributed Rs 7.86 lakh as monthly pension to the actors.
“Last year, Mohan’s son Karthik approached us seeking help for his father, who fell down in the bathroom and broke his two legs. Though he failed to renew his membership since 2001, we considered his son’s plea and gave him Rs 10,000 for medical expenses.
