CHENNAI: Four IPS officers were on Friday promoted as directors-general of police (DGP), taking the number of officers of the rank of DGP in the state to nine.
State home secretary Niranjan Mardi issued orders for the promotion of the officers. Satish Kumar Dogra, who heads the directorate of vigilance and anti-corruption in the state, has been promoted.
He will retire on December 31. R Sekar, who is additional director-general of police, railways, has been promoted as DGP and will head TN Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (Tangedco), a new post.
Mahboob Alam, ADGP, Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force, has been promoted as DGP and will continue in the same position. ADGP, state intelligence unit, Ashok Kumar has been promoted and posted to the state intelligence unit in a newly created post. Inspector-general of police Tangedco Seema Agarwal has been transferred as IGP, railways.
