Mohan Lal said the department would mention in its initial advertisement that the posts of conductors would be open for women too. However, he conceded that there had been no woman conductor till now. "One woman was appointed on this post on compassionate grounds some time ago but she is working in the office," he said.
Mohan Lal said the advertisement for these vacancies would soon be inserted in the newspapers.
On implementing the new transport policy to ensure AC travel at just 15% more fare, Mohan Lal said there had been a few applicants and the government had decided to extend the deadline. "There are some apprehensions that need to be addressed to ensure a better response," he added.
