We promise wholistic development in Mohali and Kharar, especially constitution of Kandi area board and industrial hub for employment generation.
The main problem of Kandi area is the damage to crops caused by wild animals. The Punjab government has already enacted a law in this regard and we will facilitate electric fencing of the area." The Kandi area stretches along the Shivalik foothills in Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Nawanshahr, Ropar and Mohali districts, 161 km in length and 10 km in width.
Tewari promised regular supply of drinking water in all villages in Kandi area. Tewari said he was appalled to learn that several villages, like Balachaur, Garhshankar, Anandpur Sahib, Ropar and Kharar, were still not getting proper drinking water.
"It is my duty and responsibility to manage the funds whether from World Bank or Reserve Bank of India and it is a promise to all of you that you will be getting clean drinking water very soon," he said. Adding to his commitment of bringing in investment worth Rs 50,000 crore in next five years, he promised to get an agro-forestry based industrial park set up in the area.
