Manimajra to get new school, health centre in Panchkula

CHANDIGARH: Manimajra is going to get a new government school and health and wellness center, as the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, has prepared the detailed proposal to give huge chunk of lands there to the Chandigarh administration in this regard.
The civic body authority has prepared both of the models, namely leasehold and freehold, to give the lands to the Chandigarh administration in detail, keeping the finances and control of the land aspects in its proposal.The agenda in this regard is coming for the discussion amongst the members of the general house during its monthly general house meeting, scheduled on Monday.
The MC will only provide the land and both of these projects will be run by the Education department and Health Department of the Chandigarh administration only.
Since the chunks of land are located at the prominent location, having huge financial value, the civic body authority had calculated the amount keeping the collector rant formula in the mind.
The move has come following the consistent discussion, deliberation amongst the senior officers of the Chandigarh administration and Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.
Though, the identified land in Manimajra is for the commercial purpose, but since the requirement of school and hospital has been found quite necessary, both UT and MC reached at the consensus to give land for these purposes to serve the large number of people of the area.
“A meeting regarding setting up of new Government School was held on November 2022 under the Chairmanship of Worthy Finance Secretary-cum-Secretary Engineering, UT, Chandigarh. In the said meeting, it was decided that suitable site would be inspected jointly by a team of officers consisting of MC, Education Department, Engineering Department, Department of Urban Planning, Estate Office and LAO within one week for construction of new Government School to finalise the exact location of school site. The land details would be supplied by the MC. The Secretary Education requested the MC either to construct and operate the said school building on its own or hand over the site to the Education Department, UT, Chandigarh so that said school could be constructed”, the agenda says.
Similarly, in case of the health and wellness centre in Manimajra, the Municipal Corporation says that the land is extremely valuable and has the great potential of revenue generation.
If the general house decided that the land to be allotted, it will be on the payment basis.
