However, the family members of Abhay’s elder brother Ajay Singh Chautala, who had split from INLD last year to form Jannayak Janta Party, was conspicuous by their absence. Sources said Ajay’s wife and Dabwali MLA Naina Chautala was in Dabwali, but she did not attend the function. She refused to comment on the matter, saying the family relationship had ended in October 2018.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Arjun contested from Kurukshetra. Families of Abhay and Dilbagh have been associated for the last three generations and their long-standing friendship has turned into a relationship.
INLD leaders B D Dhalia and Ashok Arora and Abhay’s uncle Ranjeet Singh were also present during the engagement ceremony. Arora said the ceremony was a family affair and he would not comment more. He admitted that family members of Ajay did not attend the ceremony.
