MOHALI: It is a heavy price 20-year-old Kamal is alleging to have paid for falling in love with a policeman's daughter. Recuperating at the Civil Hospital in Phase VI, the boy claims he is not able to stand without support after being tortured.Speaking to TOI at the hospital, Kamal said, "A day after Valentine's Day, a friend of mine called me up to meet him at the Mohali barrier at 5.30 pm.
I asked him to come over to my house instead but he insisted, therefore I went there." Alleging that he was picked up from the barrier by men in Khaki, Kamal said, "When I reached the barrier, a black Hyundai Accent stopped near me and two persons pulled me inside the car. The abductors were in civil uniform,
but the father of the girl was in uniform." Kamal further alleged that he was taken to the police station in Phase VIII where he was subjected to inhuman torture. "I was made to strip and stand in nude for hours and beaten up mercilessly with a cane. I pleaded with them for mercy but it was all in vain. Instead, I was given electric shocks on my private parts," he said.Kamal also alleged that he was forced to consume excessive liquor following which he fell unconscious. "When I regained consciousness, I found myself at a roadside near village Daun in Kharar. Unable to even stand on my feet, I informed my parents at around 3 am on Thursday from my mobile about my whereabouts," he added. Ever since, his father Satpal Bindra has been running from pillar to post to get a case registered. The police, however, are denying any involvement in the case. Jasbir Singh, father of the girl, posted as a head constable in the Phase VIII police station, said, "There is no truth in these allegations - nothing of this kind ever happened." The station house officer of Phase VIII police station, Gurvinder Singh, too refuted the allegations, saying that the boy may have been beaten up outside the police station, but there had been no incidence of anyone being tortured inside. SP (city) Varinder Pal Singh said, "The details will be available with me by Sunday evening. I assure that the guilty will not be spared."
