SHIMLA: Leader of opposition
Prem Kumar Dhumal on Wednesday said that failed financial management of
Congress government has brought the state on the verge of bankruptcy and to conceal its inefficiency now they were blaming the previous BJP regime and misleading the people of Himachal Pradesh.
Dhumal said the state government was passing through bad financial situation due to wrong decisions.
He said that a small state like Himachal has been burdened with the appointment of 35-40 chairmen and vice-chairmen of different boards and corporations. He said that Rs 4-5 lakh is spent per month on a chairman. "The only job of these chairmen and vice-chairmen is to curse the previous regime and BJP leaders," he added.
He said that despite poor financial condition, expensive vehicles were purchased for ministers, chairmen and vice-chairmen. "This shows how the hard-earned money of public was spent mindlessly by the present government," he added. The former chief minister said that seriousness of the Congress government to improve financial condition of the state could be gauged from the fact that the day a resource mobilization committee was formed by the government, the cabinet also approved purchase of a new vehicle for its chairman.
"It is a crude joke with the public that after two years of coming to power the Congress government is still in the process of blaming the previous BJP government for its failure to manage the state's finances," he added.
