BATHINDA: Reeling under debt, an aged farmer of Ratta Tibbba village under Lambi assembly constituency of Muktsar, represented by former Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, committed suicide by hanging from a tree in the fields. Victim Dogar Ram Kamboj, 65, owned 2.5 acres of land and owed Rs 10 lakh to the village cooperative agriculture society and a moneylender.

He was under depression for not being able to repay the loan, and ended his life on Wednesday late evening.
Dogar Ram's wife Parmeshwari Devi said he was under depression for being unable to pay back loans. "On Wednesday evening, he had gone to the fields saying that he will return late but in the early of Thursday, we found his body hanging from a tree in the fields," she said. Kabarwala SHO Balkar Singh said that legal formalities for unnatural death case had been initiated.
