CHANDIGARH: Economics Offence Wing (EOW) of UT police on Saturday arrested a conman,
Mukesh Sharma, of Derabassi for allegedly duping about Rs 1.95 lakh from a Mumbai resident, Kabin J Saldana, in April 2002. The case was registered at Sector 17 police station and the investigation was later handed over to economics wing.
Police said that the accused, Mukesh and his two associates cheated the complainant, Kabin, on the pretext of opening a liquor bottling factory in Derabassi and the deal was made in Sector 22 office of Mukesh and the others. Though the cheating incident happened 2002, cops took about eight years to capture the mastermind — Mukesh — claiming that he was avoiding the arrest since the beginning by shifting his hideouts randomly. The accused was produced in district courts, Sector 17, and was sent to police custody for two days.
