CM flags off ‘Children of the State Tour’
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday flagged off the ‘Children of the State Tour' – an educational and exposure programme – for 52 orphaned children from various child care institutions across the state to Goa.The initiative is part of the state govt's commitment to the holistic development, empowerment and well-being of vulnerable children. Interacting with the children, Sukhu encouraged them to make the most of this unique journey by exploring new places, learning from diverse cultures and gaining enriching experiences.
The CM said such exposure would broaden their outlook, enhance knowledge and help them better understand the country's rich heritage and modern progress.The tour, which will continue until Jan 15, includes visits to major cities such as Chandigarh, Delhi, Agra and Goa. The children will travel through various modes of transport, including Volvo buses, railways and air travel.In Delhi, they will visit iconic landmarks such as the Red Fort, Qutub Minar, India Gate, Raj Ghat, Humayun's Tomb, the National Zoological Park, the National Science Museum and several cultural and institutional centres. A visit to Taj Mahal in Agra is also part of the itinerary, said an official spokesperson.During the Goa leg, the children will explore famous beaches, churches and temples, enjoy a pleasure cruise and visit the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services to enhance scientific and environmental awareness.Sukhu emphasised that under the Mukhyamantri Sukh-Aashray Yojana, the state govt was ensuring not just care and protection, but opportunities for education, exposure and a dignified future.He directed officials to ensure the children's safety, comfort and well-being throughout the tour.
