AAP govt used rural devp funds to clear debt: Sharma
Chandigarh: Punjab BJP president Ashwani Sharma on Monday said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government led by chief minister Bhagwant Mann has made the “holy house” of the Vidhan Sabha an arena of politics and all special sessions called by it so far were nothing but a burden on the state exchequer.
Sharma said the Punjab government’s intention and policy were wrong as they did not benefit the people of the state.

“The rural development fund can only be spent on maintenance of mandis, providing basic facilities to farmers and development of roads, but the Punjab government pledged all this money to banks to clear its debt,” he added.
The state BJP president said that the two-day special session was only called by the Mann government to fulfil its own agenda. “During the first such special session, issue of ‘Operation Lotus’ was raised. An FIR has been registered in the case, but no information was furnished about it until today,” he added.
The government has been working to divert the attention from issues raised against them, Sharma said, adding that even during the first special assembly session, the BJP had challenged the AAP to tell which of its MLAs had received offers. “AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal and his party had been doing vote bank politics on the issue of drugs as the state government is not serious about its eradication. The Punjab government insulted the assembly by making baseless and fabricated issues over Panjab University,” he added.
