AI gaffe

The higher education department’s recent attempt to showcase its achievements on social media did quite the opposite. The department used AI-generated images to highlight its initiatives, but eagle-eyed social media users quickly noticed that the state emblem embedded in the posts appeared distorted. Soon, discussion shifted from centres of excellence, research projects and academic reforms to the anatomy of the lions in the emblem.

Power point

A few minutes of thunderstorm and power supply was immediately snapped to prevent mishaps. Good idea. But when it was time to turn the power back on, the discom took almost an hour. Noticing the delay, a social media user asked, “Is this disaster preparedness of the power distribution company? No information to consumers about the time to restore electricity.”

Price pain

Cooperation minister Pradeep Bal Samanta was all at sea while facing the media recently. Asked about the minimum support price of paddy, the minister fumbled big time, even trying the classic escape route — “ask something else.” It was like watching a goalkeeper request the striker to shoot in another direction.
