BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) on Saturday confiscated the visitor's logbook from Raj Bhawan, office-cum-residence of Governor Ram Naresh Yadav as part of investigations into Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam.
STF reportedly found an entry of MPPEB former exam controller Pankaj Trivedi in the visitor's logbook.
Trivedi, key accused in the scam, was arrested by STF in 2013. Investigation officials claim logbook entries will be used as corroborative evidence against the suspect.
Governor had allegedly sent a list of candidates to MPPEB scam kingpin Pankaj Trivedi, asking him to ensure they passed the examination of forest guard recruitment in 2013, said STF sources. Trivedi visited Raj Bhawan, a week before the examination.
On Thursday, Yadav moved a writ petition in Madhya Pradesh high court to quash an FIR registered against him by STF for his alleged role in the scam after he failed to meet President Pranab Mukherjee after several attempts. Court will hear his plea on Monday.
Yadav continues to remain in office even after his name figured in FIR. The petition has been moved before Jabalpur bench of the high court, claiming STF had no right to book a governor.
He was booked on February 24 with 101 others, including former higher education and technical education minister Laxmikant Sharma and mining baron Sudhir Sharma. Governor has also been accused of forgery and corruption. Yadav, who was UP chief minister from Janata Party in 1977-79, later joined Congress, and was appointed MP governor in 2011. MPPEB scam is a mammoth admission and recruitment scam involving politicians and top government officials.
