Earlier, regional office of NCTE had an important role in inspection of colleges. Sources said several colleges have been under council scanner , which were given recognition and were not following norms. NCTE regional office has been putting responsibility on respective universities for not providing affiliation to colleges without proper inspection.
On the other hand, universities felt they were bound to give affiliation to colleges despite knowing they were not following norms.
Inspection sections empower the council to cause inspections of recognized educational institutions to find out if they are functioning in accordance with regulations and norms and standards prescribed by the NCTE.
Last year, MP NCTE regional office and Barkatullah University were in slugfest over physical education colleges for violating norms.
