Bhopal: Seven of the 40 people who were injured in the
bus accident that took place in Rewa on Friday night killing 15 people, are still admitted at Rewa. On Saturday, 12 injured who were admitted at Rewa had left for their hometowns in different districts of
Uttar Pradesh while on Sunday another five had left for their homes.
Fifteen people had died and around 40 were injured as a sleeper bus rammed into a trolley truck in Sohagi Pahad area of Rewa district.
The impact of the collision was so severe that bodies of the passengers were trapped in the mangled remains of the bus, and it took rescuers the entire night to retrieve them. The deceased were migrant workers returning home from Hyderabad for Diwali and were mostly residents of Gonda,
Gorakhpur, Balrampur districts of Uttar Pradesh.
“Seven injured are still at Rewa hospital. None of them have any major injuries and they are likely to be discharged within the next few days,” SP Rewa Navneet Bhasin told TOI.
“Bodies of the dead were being sent to their native places since Saturday late evening and it continued till Sunday morning. Only one body is yet to be identified,” he said. Meanwhile, police have registered a case and investigations are underway. The cause of the
accident is not clear yet, though the survivors claimed that the bus was being driven recklessly and there was some snag in its brakes. The bus was running behind a trolley truck and when the truck hit another vehicle and stopped the bus rammed it from behind.
