Bangalore: After a sweltering afternoon on Monday, there were light showers and strong winds around the city in the evening. The maximum temperature went up to 35 degrees. Though there was no heavy rain anywhere, HAL area received more rain than other parts.
Director, meteorological department, A Muthuchami said strong winds and light showers are typical of the pre-monsoon phase.

"After May 15, the frequency of these showers will increase. Now we can expect them every alternate day. The monsoon can be expected to arrive in the first week of June," said Muthuchami. There were no major complaints at the BBMP control rooms except water logging in some parts of Kasavanahalli and one tree fell due to the strong wind at Azadnagar. There was power fluctuation at K R Puram and surrounding areas for 15 to 20 minutes.
